Every family has unique childcare needs – as well as a particular schedule that works best for their family. One of the main benefits of PROaupair’s professional childcare program is that childcare professionals can work a flexible schedule. This ensures that our host families get the care they need, when they need it.

Work Hours

PROaupair’s childcare professionals can be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week with flexible hours that accommodates a family’s specific needs. Host families are encouraged to discuss work hours and duties during the interview process. PROaupair recommends that host families provide their childcare professional with a written weekly schedule so everyone is clear on responsibilities. When preparing the weekly schedule, host families should keep the following in mind:

  • Work hours may not exceed 10 hours per day or 40 hours per week
  • Childcare Professionals are entitled to 1.5 days off per week and one full weekend off per month (Friday evening to Monday morning)
  • Childcare Professionals are entitled to four weeks of paid leave during their 12 month engagement

Work Duties

Childcare responsibilities vary from family to family and are influenced by the child’s age, abilities and specific needs. Regardless of age, childcare professionals responsibilities should focus on childcare and childcare-related tasks. In addition, a childcare professional should complement and not replace the services of other care or education providers such as local therapists or teachers.
