Genetic and neurological disorders, such as Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, chromosome deletion, epilepsy, or seizures, can impact a child and that child’s development in a wide variety of ways. PROaupair’s professional au pairs are trained professionals with degrees in fields such as paediatric nursing and occupational therapy, allowing them to understand a child’s specific needs and to come up with a tailored plan for care, development and ongoing home-based therapeutic support.

Meet Kai & Occupational Therapist Lydia

Four-year-old Kai has tuberous sclerosis which causes developmental delays and seizures. After his diagnosis, his family looked for a caregiver who could better support his condition. They hired Lydia, a professional au pair and occupational therapist from Germany, who had specific experience working with children with special needs.
